FlySafair has added a new international destination to its route and will now allow customers to fly direct from Cape Town to Windhoek, Namibia.
This new route will start operating from October 22, 2024.
This new route has been a dream for the low cost airline, who are excited about the opportunities this may create.
”We have been wanting to break into the Windhoek market for a while, but the barrier, until now, has been aircraft availability,” Kirby Gordon, the Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair explained.
“Having an additional aircraft that we are basing in Cape Town is now enabling us to expand into the market with a competitive fare,” Gordon added.
So how much will it cost you?
According to FlySafair, the price of tickets to Namibia will start from R1,800 and and the route will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The airline hopes to capitalise on the Summer holidays and see it as another option for travellers in the festive season.
”It will offer South Africans another option for their travel: visiting family and friends. There is some good business travel on the route as well,” Gordon noted.
”The new route will additionally cater to overseas travellers who are using Cape Town as a jumping-off point to other African destinations,” he said.
More planes
In late July, FlySafair said it was increasing its capacity with the addition of two Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
This move will add 12-14 flights per day to the airline’s schedule, enhancing travel options for passengers.
These new flights are likely to be used to boost capacity on South Africa’s Golden Triangle: Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban.
