An evening of unity, reflection and sharing will take place at the Made in Chatsworth Market community iftar on Saturday from 6pm.
"More than just a meal, the iftar - held at sunset during the holy month of Ramadaan - serves as a bridge across faith lines, fostering goodwill and mutual understanding," said one of the organisers, Kiru Naidoo.
"The event is open to people of all backgrounds, who wish to come together in a spirit of peace and harmony. This annual event is about more than breaking fast. It’s about breaking barriers. It’s about bringing people together in a shared space where we can celebrate our common humanity and promote unity in our community.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, as the evening revolves around the collective generosity of the community.
"Whether you contribute a home-cooked halaal meal, fresh fruit, or simply your presence, your participation adds to the warmth and inclusivity of the event. All are welcome to attend this event, whether fasting or not," added fellow organiser, Riaz Moonaf.
"Gather with us as we strengthen bonds, celebrate diversity, and reaffirm our shared values of kindness, respect, and community spirit. Prayer facilities are also available."
The Made in Chatsworth Market is held at Depot Road Primary School on Lenny Naidu Drive.
