White City Spurs will be without four senior players in their all important Clinix Stix Morewa Soccer Challenge match against high riding Premier Impala at the Nike Football Training Centre in Pimville, Soweto on Sunday.

Two of the regular players, Bongani Masondo and Katlego Dithorwana are unavailable, while Nhlanhla Gabela has a broken leg. The fourth player, Lungile Mbangula, is away on family commitment.

The players were absent at a midweek training session ahead of their crucial match. One supporter lamented: “If it were a boxing match, Spurs chairperson Peter Thuntsane would have asked for a postponement to give his charges more time to heal.”

At their Power Park offices yesterday, Thuntsane said: “Since football is not a one man sport, the game has to go on and we’ll play without our regulars.

“But we have a surprise in store for our opponents,” said Thuntsane, who described the unavailability of his key players as a setback. “But we will still beat Premier,” he said.

While Premier beat Norkem Rangers 3-1 last weekend in normal time, Spurs had to be content with a narrow 9-8 penalty shootout win against Dlamini X1 Experience.
