The gang-rape of a teenager and a 34-year-old woman have police querying whether the same three men are linked to both crimes.

On Friday morning, three men in a blue VW Golf stopped a 15-year-old girl walking in Meadowlands, allegedly to ask for directions. As the girl approached the vehicle, she was pulled inside and taken to a field in nearby Zondi, where she was raped for an hour, according to Moroka police spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

Then at 11pm on Saturday in Zola, a 34-year-old woman was walking when three men approached her and dragged her into a nearby house.

The men raped the woman for five hours. The woman immediately reported the matter. Police went to the house, where they arrested two of the three men. The men led officers to the home of a third man, who was also arrested. The three men, aged 23, 30 and 39, were expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court today.
