Internationally acclaimed comedian and former host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, is set to host the Grammys — one of music’s biggest nights — for the fifth consecutive year.
In addition to hosting the ceremony, Noah will also serve as a producer and is nominated for Best Comedy Album for his special ‘Where Was I’. He will be competing alongside comedians like Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan, and Nikki Glaser.
Last year, he was nominated in the same category for ‘I Wish You Would’ but lost to Dave Chappelle.
This marks his third nomination from the Academy. He first received a nomination in 2019, for his stand-up special ‘Son of Patricia’, which was a finalist for Best Comedy Album.
Noah is no stranger to international accolades, having been honoured with the prestigious Dutch Erasmus Prize in 2023, making him the first comedian to receive the award since Charlie Chaplin in 1965.
His other achievements include two Primetime Emmy Awards. He was named one of "The 35 Most Powerful People in New York Media" by The Hollywood Reporter in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, TIME magazine named him one of the hundred most influential people in the world.
The Grammys will broadcast live on February 2 from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS. This year’s ceremony will focus on raising funds to support relief efforts for the California wildfire victims.
“This year’s ceremony carries a renewed sense of purpose, with additional efforts to support wildfire relief initiatives and honouring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” the organisers said in a statement.
