The De Deur police are investigating a case of murder and suicide following a freak lovers’ tiff that resulted in a female traffic officer, based in the Vaal, allegedly fatally shooting her fellow traffic officer boyfriend, four times before allegedly turning the gun on herself.

According to a police report by Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza, the couple had attended an “after tears” event to pay their respects to a fellow traffic officer who had passed away.

It is reported that sometime during the event, a disagreement allegedly arose between the couple, escalating to the point where they decided to step outside to address the issue away from the gathering.

“The situation allegedly took a devastating turn when, in a moment of extreme distress or anger, the girlfriend, 38, allegedly pulled out a firearm and proceeded to shoot her boyfriend, 31, four times.

“Following this incomprehensible act of violence, the girlfriend allegedly tragically turned the gun on herself, ending her own life by shooting herself in the head,” Kweza said.

It has been reported also that in the early hours, authorities were called to the Debonair Park in the Sedibeng District where the tragic incident had happened.

On arrival, the ER24 paramedics declared the couple dead with firearms found next to each body.

Eight bullet casings were allegedly found at the scene, with one officer having four gunshot wounds, while the female had one gunshot wound to the head.

“I can confirm that the De Deur police are investigating murder and suicide dockets after two police members were found dead. Their bodies were found on the street,” Kweza said.
