Apple unveiled a range of new technology that features some impressive updates the company hopes will convince customers to upgrade their devices. But the launch of the new iPhone 16 range was met with mixed emotions from influenced, and unimpressed consumers.

The iPhone 16 has received some praise for its longer battery life, the “longest lasting battery life on any of its phones,” according to Apple.

The Apple Intelligence feature of the new iPhone 16 has received the most positive reception and is probably the biggest driving force behind people being keen to upgrade to the iPhone 16 as soon as it is available next Friday.

As much as some people may be skeptical and not open to the increased incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our everyday lives and devices, there are others who are most excited and impressed by the AI powered iPhone 16 and will be using that as the singular motivator to either make the upgrade or switch to Apple from other brands.

Apple Inc chief executive Tim Cook, said the iPhone 16 was purposely designed for generative artificial intelligence, dubbed “Apple Intelligence” by the company, from the ground up.

Apple’s AI will feature writing tools that help edit your emails and text while allowing more natural conversations with Siri.

“Apple intelligence marks the start of a new era for Siri and makes it more natural, more contextually relevant and more personal to you with richer language understanding,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s SVP of software engineering.

Even though the new Camera Control button on the new iPhone 16 models has been received positively for the most part, there has been some left-handed people who took to the internet to express disappointment about the hardware feature that is positioned to only cater to right-handed people.

In true internet fashion too, multiple social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to flood the timeline with jokes and memes as reactions to the iPhone 16 series announcement, mostly expressing that they are not impressed with the upgrades and lack of ground-breaking innovation by Apple.

Several users posted a popular meme to highlight that there’s only a slight difference between last year and this year’s iPhone models, the meme featured an image of an elderly man holding a new shirt that looks exactly the same as the one he's wearing.

Another user made fun of the people who also complain about Apple making the same phone over and over each year, yet still upgrade to the newest model, because of brand loyalty.
