EASTERN Cape music artist Eon Le Roux pays tribute to his late grandmother in a fitting new single, “Legacy”.
The independent artist, who was a Top 5 finalist on “The Voice SA” season 3 in 2019, wrote the song for his grandmother for her 100th birthday.
The powerful yet heartfelt song honours a life well-lived, filled with treasured memories, as well as the priceless lessons Le Roux's grandmother taught him.
He says, “She always believed that your legacy is what people will remember about you. So chase your dreams, be kind to others, and never give up in the face of adversity.”
In an Instagram post, the singer shares that his favourite part of this new song is the part where he sings, “Look how far you’ve come, bearing the weight, look how much you’ve done, and all the strength you gained... Hold on, hold on...”
According to a press statement, the song’s upbeat melodies and thought-provoking lyrics “provide an open and sincere look at the life and religion of his grandmother”.
Meanwhile, the song's composition draws attention to the message's emotional core while providing room for listeners to consider their own relationships and life experiences.
