The music world has been set alight by the news that Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are set to reunite after 15 years.
Multiple publications have reported that the legendary British pop group are making a comeback after the siblings’ tumultuous split back in 2009.
At the time, Noel claimed that he couldn’t work with his brother “a day longer”. They have now apparently buried the hatchet and have allegedly reunited in recent weeks.
In a move that has delighted their fans, the “Wonderwall” hitmakers are apparently set to reunite on stage for the first time since their infamous feud with a coveted headline set at Glastonbury 2025 and a series of gigs in London and Manchester.
Oasis took the music world by storm when they broke into the industry in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam (lead vocals) as well as Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums).
Liam then asked his older brother Noel (lead guitar and vocals) to join as a fifth member a few months later.
Many of the original members left the group over the years for various reasons, with top artists replacing them.
And while the Gallagher brothers had their own drama as they featured regularly in tabloid newspapers throughout the 1990s for their public disputes and wild lifestyles, Oasis has gone on to cement their status with their numerous hits and accolades.
Their record-setting debut album, “Definitely Maybe”, topped the UK Albums Chart and quickly became the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time.
Their 1995 hit, “(What's the Story) Morning Glory?”, spent 10 weeks at number one on the British charts. It also went on to achieve international success as it became one of the best-selling albums of all time, the fifth-best-selling album in the UK and the biggest-selling album in the UK of the 1990s.
As of 2024, Oasis have sold over 75 million records worldwide. They currently have eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums.
The band also achieved three platinum albums in the US, won 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards and were also nominated for two Grammy Awards.
As fans look forward to more Oasis hits and performances, a source told the “The Sun” newspaper: “Noel and Liam are never going to be the best of friends but they want to bring Oasis back for the fans.
“They aren’t getting any younger and the demand is huge. They decided it was now or never.
“Noel dug his heels in for a long time but has finally caved and agreed to return.
“He spoke to Liam on the phone and they are on the same page. They know this reunion will go down in music history.”
Meanwhile, Liam teased Oasis’ potential reunion during his performance at Reading Festival over the weekend.
He played Oasis‘ debut album in full at the event, while he also gave a shout-out to his brother during the gig.
Before singing “Half The World Away”, Liam told the crowd: "I want to dedicate this song to Noel Gallagher."
The singer also teased the band’s potential return on social media.
He wrote on X: “I never did like that word FORMER (sic)”
Meanwhile, the UK’s Professor Jonathan Shalit, the chairman of talent agency InterTalent, has now claimed that the brothers could each make more than £50 million from a potential reunion.
“With tickets, sponsorship, merchandise and filming, I would predict an income for Noel and Liam of over £50 million each,” he told “The Sun”.
He added that their potential tour “Could easily gross over £400 million.”
