“The World's 9th Wonder” celebration on Spring Day in Khayelitsha is set to be a preview of the highly-anticipated “Rands Holidae Festival” later this year.

The event will take place from November 29 to December 1, at Promised Land, a 100% black-owned 130-hectare farm in Paarl’s Drakenstein mountains.

Owners Mshayi and Mfundo Mbeki expect around 10,000 attendees over the three-day camping festival.

Mshayi expressed excitement about hosting the event, highlighting their goal of creating a memorable celebration of music, culture and community.

“’The Rands Holidae Festival’ represents the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that we want to showcase to the world,” he said.

“We’re excited to welcome thousands of festival goers to this beautiful location for a jam-packed three days of music, adventure, culture and togetherness.”

Attendees can expect a diverse line-up of music across the three stages which will be the Valley of Hope, Exodus Stage and Til’ The Morning.

It will also feature genres like house music, gqom, amapiano, Afro soul as well as gospel during the Soulful Sunday segment. Meanwhile, a special throwback edition will also celebrate 90’s R&B and kwaito.

The festival also offers activities such as wine tasting, gaming, cooking classes and an outdoor bioscope to ensure a rich experience for everyone.

“The World's 9th Wonder” will also feature top music acts and delicious food and beverages as it gives attendees a taste of what’s to come at the “Rands Holidae Festival”.

The organisers added that the event will be “ a sacred place filled with unforgettable moments, remarkable vibrations, and has emerged as a beacon of excellence, earning its place among the world's most awe-inspiring wonders.”

Riaad Moosa Live at the Drama Factory

Renowned comedian Dr. Riaad Moosa will take the stage at The Drama Factory for a one-night-only performance.

Acclaimed for blending sharp wit with personal insights, Moosa will delve into the complexities of modern life, exploring everything from family chaos to the search for meaning in today's hectic world.

Sue Diepeveen, owner of The Drama Factory, expressed her excitement about the show.

"Riaad Moosa is one of the funniest comedians I know and we are delighted to welcome the Dr in the house!"

The 47-year-old is also a medical doctor, an award-winning actor as well as a presenter and writer. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he launched a podcast called “The Best Medicine” which sought to bring healing through humour.

This inspired the creation of his weekly virtual comedy club, which features comedians from around the world.

Meanwhile, Moosa’s impressive comedy resume extends to his Netflix specials such as “Why Do You Talk the Way You Do?” and “Life Begins”. He also starred in the internationally-acclaimed film “Material” which won him a Saftas award for Best Actor.

"On The Record" with Texx & The City

Texx and The City is launching an exciting new event series called “On The Record”, which is powered by Shure.

It is all about celebrating the powerful connection between music and storytelling.

South African pop singer and songwriter Majozi will headline the gathering as he walks the audience through highlights from his remarkable 10-year career.

“I’m actually really excited to go through my discography of 10 years,” Majozi shared.

“I’m going to use this opportunity to share some stories that I never get to share, as well as revisit some old songs that I haven’t played in years. This isn’t just gonna be a straight-up show! It’s gonna be an experience for all of us!”

This unique, once-off event promises to shine a spotlight on Majozi’s greatest hits as well as his contribution to the South African music industry.

“This is definitely a different sound from me. So if you are a fan of synth-pop, then hopefully you’ll enjoy this,” Majozi said.

Along with the single, he is releasing a series of remixes on Friday, 30 August, including a live version, a sped-up version, a slowed-down version, an instrumental and even an a cappella take on his hit, “Time Traveller.”

“The live version specifically is really fun,” Majozi added.

“It’s always a good time getting to play live with my friends and I think that energy translates in the live recording.”

“There’s a little more guitar on this one as well, and it sounds great.”
