As Kaizer Chiefs continue to simultaneously preach patience under coach Nasreddine Nabi as the defeats add up, it’s worth comparing his record at the Soweto Giants to his predecessors.
Chiefs have now lost three of their last five Betway Premiership outings and have now lost 10 times this campaign under Nabi.
After Chiefs lost 2-1 to Golden Arrows in their league clash over the weekend, Nabi told SABC Sport as per iDiksi Times: “It’s a very tough loss today and hard to accept. It puts the club and team in a difficult position, and the fans of this club have no joy.”
Overall, Nabi has seen Chiefs lose 12 matches, draw five, and win 10 times.
Chiefs' trophy drought: Speculation surrounds coach Nabi's future amid fan frustration
This has all come in less than a calendar year since he’s been in charge.
While Nabi’s contract runs until June 30, 2026, it appears the Amakhosi faithful are nearing the end of their tether as there is much speculation about the coach’s future at the club.
While coaches have come and gone on a virtual conveyor belt over the last few years, it’s now been a decade since Chiefs last won the league title in the 2014/2015 season.
In fact, that was their most recent official competition trophy since then if you don’t count their three triumphs in the Carling Black Label Cup.
Before Nabi, big names like Cavin Johnson, Molefi Ntseki, Arthur Zwane, Stuart Baxter, Gavin Hunt, and Ernst Middendorp have all taken charge of Chiefs since December 2018.
The longest any of the coaches lasted in this period was Middendorp, who was in charge for 642 days.
The shortest was Ntseki, who held the reins for just 114 days.
