New Kaizer Chiefs defender Miguel Inacio is eager to get going for his new club after joining the Soweto giants from Angola’s Petro de Luanda.
According to reports, the Portuguese-born Angolan international turned down a number of North African clubs in order to link up with Nasreddine Nabi at Naturena.
“Kaizer Chiefs is a different team, there is no comparison in Africa in my opinion,” the Angolan said when speaking about his decision to join Nabi’s revolution, quoted by FARPost.
And, his decision to join the club was not motivated by money, saying: “If I want money, I would not come to South Africa.”
Inacio is one of seven new players who have joined the club in the off season alongside Bongani Sam, Njabulo Blom, Bradley Cross, Gaston Sirino, Rushwin Dortley, and Fiacre Ntwari.
Despite all of the players brought in, many pundits and fans are i agreement that Nabi’s first season in charge will be a difficult one, and the club will not be involved in the race to win the Betway Premiership title.
However, Inacio had another opinion on the club’s ambitions for the upcoming season when asked if the league was a step too far for the Glamour Boys.
“I don’t agree when you say the league is not an objective when you’re at Kaizer Chiefs,” the Angolan said.
Nabi’s charges will begin their Betwan Premiership campaign on Saturday when they travel to Polokwane to take on the newly minted Marumo Gallants.
