Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi says the Brazilians cannot be "proud and make noise" when they dominate the Betway Premiership, as it's expected for Masandawana to do well.
Sundowns have proven to be the dominant force in the PSL over the last decade, claiming their seventh successive league title last season.
However, the Tshwane-based side has struggled to replicate their dominance in the tough terrains of African football.
Mngqithi emphasised that his main focus was not on the PSL, but more geared towards teams Sundowns will compete against in the CAF Champions League.
“It should be expected that we should do well in the PSL, but my focus is not on the PSL, which is why I'm talking about our transitional game.
"I'm already thinking about teams that are going to be pushing us like the ones we played in Austria. We were playing against teams such as Dynamo Kyiv that have qualified for the Champions League from the prelims. Al Hilal will be in the Club World Cup and it has some of the most dangerous players you can think of,“ Mngqithi Said.
The Sundowns coach also added that he believes that his side will win the CAF Champions League, a title that Masandawana has only won once back in 2016 under Pitso Mosimane
"So the expectation is to try and not talk about the dominance in the PSL, because that is what is expected. You can't be can't be proud and make noise when dominating the PSL,“ Mgqithi said.
“More than that, you have a responsibility to ask ‘can we win the Champions League?’ Because that is something we have been lacking and it's something I think we will win," Mgqithi said.
