As Kaizer Chiefs still hold out hopes of a top-three finish and even more next season, boosting their midfield may just be a top priority for the club and coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Chiefs currently occupy eighth place on the log after 22 games, but are just six points off third place and a significant move up the table in the Betway Premiership is still quite possible.
In the meantime, beefing up their stocks may just come as a top priority.
One of their targets could be Sphephelo Sithole, according to his agent Manuel Tomas.
In a report, Tomas confirms there had been talks between the two parties.

Chiefs engages in preliminary talks for Sithole transfer
“In December, yes, we received some calls from the club (Chiefs),” Tomas told FarPost.
“We don’t know what will happen… it’s football. But we haven’t received an official offer from Chiefs for Sithole. It was just discussions with the club and the people from the club… no official offer has been made.”
The 26-year-old Bafana Bafana player is currently on the books of Gil Vicente in Portugal. Sithole sustained a broken leg in September last year while on national duty, but will be expected back in action soon.
He is also on a season-long loan from Tondela with Gil Vicente which will be up soon.
“When the loan ends, we don’t know what the future holds,” Tomas said.
“As he recovers from the injury, when he’s fully fit, the future will guide us. We won’t force anything.”
While there is no offer of any sort just yet from Chiefs, the signing of Sithole may just be a deal they cannot afford to miss.
