Maurizio Sarri admitted that Chelsea have ‘problems to solve’ after his unbeaten start to life in England ended with yesterday’s emphatic 3-1 defeat at Tottenham.
Sarri, who had been on an 18-game unbeaten run since arriving in the summer, criticised his entire team after watching them capitulate at Wembley. The Italian said: ‘I am disappointed because we played very badly. I think we played very badly in all directions — physically, mentally, technically and tactically.
‘I knew we had some problems and with this performance today it was clear to everybody we have problems to solve. I think in the last three or four matches we have started not really very well.’
Asked which of his side were exempt from criticism, he snapped: ‘No. Today I didn’t like anybody.’
Sarri’s anger was in contrast to Mauricio Pochettino’s mood as the Spurs boss saw his side leapfrog their London rivals into third place. He said: ‘I am so happy, so pleased. I don’t need to analyse too much. All credit to the players because they were fantastic.
‘The staff are so happy managing this group of players. We need to be humble and recognise playing like this we can do big things. Our challenge is to keep going and be consistent. That’s our challenge for the rest of the season.’
Son Heung-min scored the goal of the game, but admitted he could have had more. The South Korean said: ‘I need to be more clinical. I’m happy to get three points but I have to learn from this. I was very sad when I didn’t score more.’
