CAPE TOWN – Kaizer Chiefs’ latest signing, Lebo Manyama, says he has fulfilled a dream by joining the club and aims to bring an end to the trophy drought at Naturena.

AmaKhosi have not won a title in three seasons and have responded by strengthening their playing squad and hiring Giovanni Solinas to replace previous coach, Steve Komphela. However, the changes are yet to bear fruit for Chiefs, with Solinas picking up one win, one loss and three draws thus far.

Everyone involved at Chiefs will hope Manyama can quickly inspire a turn-around of fortunes and regain the form that saw him walk away from the 2016/2017 season (his last in South Africa before leaving for Europe) as Player of the Season and Golden Boot award winner.

“It’s a dream come true,” Manyama told the Kaizer Chiefs website. “I have supported Chiefs from a young age. I grew up on the same street as Brian Baloyi in Alexandra and that’s how I fell in love with the club. “I now want to help the club win trophies and to achieve glory, because that’s what the Kaizer Chiefs brand represents to me.”

Manyama started his professional career at Ajax Cape Town, before joining SuperSport United and then Mpumalanga Black Aces. When Aces were purchased by John Comitis and moved to Cape Town to become Cape Town City, Manyama was one of the players retained.

His goals from midfield fired City to victory in the Telkom Knockout in their first ever season in existence and at the end of the campaign he earned a deserved move to Turkish side Konyaspor. The move to Turkey may not have worked out, but joining Chiefs provides Manyama with the perfect platform to regain his best form playing alongside Khama Billiat and reclaim his place at Bafana Bafana.
