EAST LONDON – Chippa United coach Eric Tinkle, is hoping that the support of East London people will propel his team to win tonight’s game against Mamelodi Sundowns (8.15pm kickoff) at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

After losing to Orlando Pirates last week in the Telkom Knockout and to Highlands Park consecutively, Chippa United will be trying regain their form by winning their third league game this season in Mdantsane – where they have never lost to Sundowns.

“I am happy to back in East London and hopefully, it can prove to be hunting ground for us. What I know, Sundowns don’t like coming to Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

“I believe there will be massive crowd that will come out, and hopefully that will motivate the players even more to perform extremely well because they will be playing against a good team, big team – Mamelodi Sundowns.

“It is not going to be easy, but I believe if we apply ourselves correctly, if we go out with the right mindset and believe in each other – we can achieve a positive result against them.”

Tinkler has managed to improve Chippa United results since taking over from Dan Malesela, who was quickly given the boot after a few games, even though Tinkler did not win any games before the Fifa break.

Tonight’s game gives his team a good opportunity to go up once again, but they need to beat the Brazilians – who are also desperate for maximum points.

In-form Downs players like Gaston Sirino and Toni Silva are likely to trouble the shaky Chippa defence, but Tinkler says there is no special plan for certain players.

“I have not prepared this game any different to previous games. Obviously, this being a home match – it was important for us come earlier to train here and get used to the conditions and facilities.

“We came and trained here on Thursday, and the mood at training was exceptional. I was very happy with what I saw in training,” concludes Tinkler.
