CAPE TOWN – It was a tough start for the Blitzboks at the Cape Town Sevens on Sunday, but at least they made it through to the Cup semi-finals.
Coming back from 21-5 down, they managed to haul in Fiji to win their quarter-final 31-26.
But defending Cape Town Sevens champions England were not as lucky, as they went down 17-12 to New Zealand. That result prevented a rematch of the 2016 decider, when the English knocked over the South Africans 19-17.
There was another surprise when USA, who beat New Zealand 22-0 on Saturday, came up short 28-12 against Argentina on Sunday.
Canada beat Fiji 22-14 on Saturday, and continued their giant-killing act on Sunday by dispatching France 35-7 in their quarter-final.
