Bloemfontein Celtic caused the biggest upset of the week as

they beat Wits 2-1 at home on Saturday night.

Striker Tshegofatso Mabasa scored both goals for Celtic, but

it was Lantshene Phalane who stabilised his team’s midfield.

Phalane was both defensively sound, and explosive going

forward.

He was involved in both of Siwelele’s goals, while his

penetrative balls kept goalkeeper Darren Keet busy for the better part of the

night.

Keet is our entrusted man between the sticks, as he came to

Wits’ rescue on a number of occasions.

There was little he could do with Celtic’s penalty and

one-on-one duel against Mabasa, and he continues to prove why he deserves his

Bafana Bafana call-ups.

He is protected by Asavela Mbekile – who impressed on debut

against Polokwane

City and former club

Mamelodi Sundowns – Mosa Lebusa, Teenage Hadebe and Innocent Maela.

Ben Motshwari is gradually proving why he deserves his nod

ahead of Orlando Pirates’ Player of the Season Musa Nyatama.

Motshwari cleans up our defence, while also linking play

with Phalane and wingers Luckyboy Mokoena and Lyle Lakay.

Mokoena has been in fine form for Highlands Park

this season with his deliveries and pace down the flanks.

As a result, he’ll be hoping to continue sending in those

crosses for our front-men, Mabasa and Ayanda Patosi.

We are almost halfway through the season, and so far, we’ve

seen a fitter and responsible Patosi compared to the previous campaign.

On Sunday, he led Cape

Town City

to a home victory over Black Leopards. That 3-1 win took City to eighth place

on the PSL standings.
