DURBAN – Giovanni Solinas is optimistic that Kaizer Chiefs will produce a top goal-scorer come the end of the season.

Amakhosi’s attackers started the season like a house on fire, but are going through a dry spell.

Solinas, though, is not worried about his misfiring attack.

“We have good players. I’m not worried about this (dry spell). I’m sure that when this season ends and when the league finishes, our strikers would have more goals. I’m confident (about that),” Solinas said.

Chiefs strikers haven’t scored in the past three matches. Ramahlwe Mphahlele netted the winner for Amakhosi against SuperSport United in the quarter-final of the Telkom Knockout the previous weekend.

Defensive midfielder Willard Katsande came to Chiefs’ rescue as they laboured to a 1-0 victory against Black Leopards thereafter.

They fired blanks this past weekend in a 0-0 stalemate against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida.

“I’m not worried about this. If I check the last three games, we created more chances.

“It is very important to create chances. If we were not creating chances, then I would start to get worried, but we are creating,” Solinas explained.

Khama Billiat has scored most goals in the league for Amakhosi. The Zimbabwean forward has notched four goals.

Billiat trails Tshegofatso Mabasa of Bloemfontein Celtic by one goal.

“In each and every game, we are creating chances. I’m not getting worried. We have very good strikers. We have the best strikers in the league.

“We have (Leonardo) Castro, Billiat, (Dumisani) Zuma, (Bernard) Parker, Lebo Manyama, and Pule (Ekstein) is also an attacking player,” Solinas concluded.

Our Dreamers getting to meet their idols and enjoying their day out! @KaizerChiefs #Amakhosi4Life thank you Kaizer Chiefs and @krispykreme for making their dreams come true! pic.twitter.com/NkLYQpPg7D

Amakhosi have produced four Golden Boot winners in the Premier Soccer League era. Pollen Ndlanya won the Golden Boot for Amakhosi in 1998/99 with 21 goals.

Collins Mbesuma scooped the award in 2004/05 with 25 goals in the league and 35 in all competitions, while Knowledge Musona took it in 2010/11.

Parker top-scored in 2013/14.

Solinas is confident that the fifth one is on its way.

Chiefs are among the highest scorers in the league. They are level with Wits on 15 goals. Orlando Pirates lead with 16 strikes.
