Johannesburg - Please open more sweet shops in Joburg, Kwanda Magwentshu, 7, appealed to City of Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba.

The young boy, standing in the queue at the Sandton Fire Station in Grayston Drive, said he loves sweets and wants more shops. Mashaba responded that sweets were not good for him as they would rot his teeth and make him fat.

Kwanda, however, stood his ground and told the mayor in no uncertain terms that he wants more sweet shops.

Mashaba appealed to everyone to vote for change.

Speaking to The Star, Mashaba said he was confident that the ANC would lose Gauteng. “We will probably land up with a coalition in the province which I would welcome,” he said.

IEC officials asked him to remove the two button DA badges he wore.

While standing in the queue Mashaba interacted with voters.

Julian Conanescu was shocked to have the mayor, who was dressed in casual clothes, next to him. “I think he is doing a great job. I can’t believe I was with him,” he said after taking numerous selfies with him.

South Africans are voting in the country's sixth general elections since the abolishment of apartheid 25 years ago.
