Two suspects arrested in connection with multiple crimes in a Vhembe operation

The two notorious suspects, who are believed to be part of a gang that has been tormenting the communities and businesses in the district for months, have been arrested during a joint intelligence-driven operation in Vhembe District.

The suspects have also been connected to violent and serious crimes, the police say.

The police arrested these suspects, a 20-year-old foreign national and a 39-year-old South African citizen, in separate incidents in Madimbo village, Masisi policing area.

The Limpopo spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, said that they were arrested on Friday, September 6 in connection with multiple cases.

They were linked to cases of robbery, car-hijacking, attempted murder and kidnapping.

“During the arrests, the police recovered two firearms and 27 live rounds of ammunition,” Mashaba said.

The possibility of the suspects being linked to cases of this nature is high as the investigation unfolds the police have said.

The provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the police for their diligence in the investigation, which led to the discovery of the firearms.

“This breakthrough brings relief to the affected communities and restores confidence in our efforts to create a safer secure environment for all citizens of this province,” Hadebe said.

Their first appearance in court is expected to be on Monday, September 9, before the Musina Magistrate’s court.

Hadebe says the investigation will continue to trace and bring to book all those who are involved.
