The police ministry has offered a cash reward of up to R100,000 in a bid to track and trace down suspects responsible for the murder of a 64-year-old Kraaifontein woman a week ago.

The Western Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said the murder took place on August 20, about 7.30pm.

“The 64-year-old woman was shot and killed on the corner of Maroela and Ntongabini Streets in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein. Preliminary information gathered revealed that two suspects approached the victim under the pretext of purchasing meat from her. They allegedly followed the victim into her shack where she was shot in the head,” Pojie said.

He said the suspects then fled the scene on foot and were yet to be arrested.

The police are conducting tracking and tracing operations as the investigation progresses.

“A reward of up to R100,000 is offered for information that might lead to the arrest and the successful prosecution of the suspects. The suspects have now been identified as 29-year-old Siyabonga Kholakele and 32-year-old Yanele Mangweni,” Pojie said.

The police have appealed to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS mobile application.

In a separate incident on Friday, September 6, officers attached to Operation Restore were deployed in Bishop Lavis and followed up on information that led them to a house in Sneeuberg Roat about 8pm.

“Upon entry, they were met with resistance from the occupants. The members took control and restored calm and searched all present. They confiscated 90 mandrax tablets and six sachets filled with cocaine, which led to the detention of an adult man for the possession of drugs,” the police said.
