It's clear that even in five-door form the new Kia Rio, due in SA soon, is a far more attractive car than its predecessor and now Kia is taking an even bigger stab at the youth market with this three-door Rio, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show today.
Conceived primarily for Europe, it boasts the same dimensions as its five-door sibling (including roofline) and will also offer the same range of engines, which include 64kW 1.2- and 79kW 1.4-litre petrol units and a diesel version that emits an industry-leading 85g/km of CO2.
Aiming to attract a new group of customers to the brand, Kia expects the three-door to account for between 20 and 25 percent of total Rio sales in Europe. Kia South Africa, however, has no plans to bring this version to our shores.
