The Korean invasion continues unabated. Just days after showing sketches of its 2013 Cerato sedan, Kia has dropped these official renderings of its next-generation Carens mini-MPV.
As always they've been rather sparing on the detail - we'll hear more about it when it debuts at the Paris Motor Show on 27 September - but Kia has promised that it is lower and sleeker than the current model.
Judging by these renderings (which are detailed enough for us to assume a high degree of accuracy) this Carens will look more like a sports tourer than bland mommy-mobile. How times have changed.
STYLE AND SPACE
This new Carens has a lower roofline to make it a little sportier but that doesn't mean they've forgotten about practicality. To that end, the MPV boasts a longer wheelbase, while the more exciting theme is continued with larger wheels and a chrome beltline accent.
In Kia's words: “The new Carens will combine striking looks with spacious functionality and an emotional appeal that has become a standard feature of Kia products.”
There's no confirmation on the engine range, but given its focus on the European market, you can expect some modern diesel power in the form of Kia's latest 1.6-litre diesel power plant, which pushes 94kW and 260Nm.
Kia's 99kW/164Nm 1.6-litre petrol motor is also a strong possibility.
