Jaguar director of design Ian Callum has a proven talent for lateral thinking, combining styling cues from classic Jaguar models to create cutting-edge new cars, but this time he's gone a bit further off the beaten track - right into the water, in fact.

At the international driving debut of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, today, he revealed this concept speedboat, saying: “We recognise that our customers enjoy active lifestyles and, W with the launch of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, we had an opportunity to show how our design philosophy could be applied to another product in which speed and beauty are also priorities.”

INSPIRED BY THE D-TYPE

The concept speedboat has a gel-coat fibreglass hull finished on top with a natural teak decking, split by a carbon fibre fin that was inspired by the iconic Jaguar D-Type. The front of the boat flows seamlessly into the screen and the red 2+1 cabin follows the design cues of Jaguar cars, with subtle touches such as fuel filler caps inspired by the Series 1 XJ.

A polished aluminium propeller and pop-up mooring post illustrate how the boat is be powered and docked respectively.
