Fountain Valley, California - Each year Hyundai Motor America and top tuning house Bisimoto get together to create something truly outrageous for the annual SEMA aftermarket expo in Las Vegas.

And this time it's the most powerful Tucson crossover ever built, boasting a 2.4-litre Thema-II engine with strengthened internals and a custom turbo that's been 'leaned on' to deliver more than 515kW through a six-speed manual 'box, running high energy, part-organic blended flex-fuel.

The mods start with Arias 9:1 compression-ratio pistons and special Bisimoto steel rods, and a Port Flow-massaged cylinder head with Bisimoto valve springs and titanium cotters under Bisimoto stage 2.4 camshaft - all held down by ARP head-studs and bolts.

It breathes in through a Turbonetics BTX-6465 billet turbo, wastegate and blowoff valve, and a Spearco intercooler (which completely replaces the standard grille), fed with fuel by a Kinsler fuel rail and filter.

Mixing and sparking is taken care of by an AEM Electronics Infinity 6 ECU with boost controller, fuel-pressure regulator, a high-flow fuel pump and 2200cc injectors, and it breathes out through a (very authoritative) custom Bisimoto exhaust system.

The standard Tucson clutch could never handle 500+ kilowatts, so it's been ditched in favour of a Spec Stage 5 clutch

RUNNING GEAR

Bisimoto head honcho Bisi Ezerioha kept it "Sweet 'n Lo" with Air Ride Equipment airbag suspension and a Buddy Club four-piston Big Brake kit on custom calliper mountings, behind a set of 19 inch Fifteen52 Tarmac R43 white five-star race-spec rims and sticky, R-compound Toyo R888 rubber.

The interior is a whole different story, however, with a custom four-point roll-cage, Racepak IQ3 electronic instrumentation, a Buddy Club short shifter and Buddy Club racing seats, all trimmed in custom Euro-inspired leather.

Audio is provided by a JBL Legend CP100 Connected Car head unit and a Harman Kardon sound system with HD radio, feeding six 6.5 inch Kappa speakers and two Reference 1200S shallow mount subwoofers via a Kappa K5 five-channel 650 Watt amplifier.
