Land Rover SA has introduced a special Evoque Black Edition, with distinctive exterior detailing and a choice of any colour you like - as long as it's from the timeless trio of black, metallic grey or white.

Just 30 are available, priced from R670 100 and all built to five-door Dynamic trim level, with either a 177kW, two-litre Si4 petrol engine, or a 2.2-litre SD4 turbodiesel rated at 140kW, in each case mated to a six-speed transmission.

THE NAME GAME

The Black Edition lives up to its name with 20" forged-alloy rims finished in gloss black and a satin-finished black contrast roof, emphasised by smoked lenses for the on the headlights and front foglights, while the tail lights have clear lenses with coloured light-bulbs for the mandatory red brake lights and orange indicators.

The standard tailgate spoiler is colour-matched to the satin black roof, as are the exhaust tips, front valance and grille, while the bonnet and tailgate script are finished in gloss black - there's no chrome on the Black Edition Evoque.
