Answer Call of Duty in special Jeep

A few years ago Peugeot created a stunning concept based on a car that only existed in a street-racing video game, but now Jeep has taken that concept to the next level (pun intended) with a special-edition Wrangler that looks exactly like the one featured in the much-hyped new Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3.

And no, it's not a coincidence; Jeep and Call of Duty developers Activision have been working on this one for a year.

It's called, predictably if clumsily, the Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition and it will be released, in both two and four-door format, in November to tie in with the launch of the new game.

The special Jeep pops up in the single-player storyline of Modern Warfare 3, in an 'expert' Spec-Ops level and in the game's much-anticipated multiplayer experience.

The real thing is based on Jeep Wrangler Rubicon model, with Rubicon rims finished in semi-gloss black. It's available either in black or metallic silver, each with special graphics on the front fenders and spare-tyre cover.

But it also has a signature "power-bulge" bonnet, a front bumper pre-drilled for a Warn winch and special rear bumper, rock rails, tail-light guards and fuel-filler door.

And it runs on aggressive 32" off-road tires, with locking differentials on both axles and a two-speed transfer case - all motivated by Jeep's new 210kW, 3.6-litre V6 engine.

Inside you'll find special black-trimmed seats with accent stitching and Call of Duty logos, more accent stitching on the armrests, centre console lid and steering wheel, special instrument graphics, a numbered special-edition plaque on the dashboard and special mats with the Call of Duty logo.

And, truth to tell, having a special Jeep that reflects your favourite video game is really no different from wearing badge-bunny clothing and accessories - just louder and a bit more practical.
