London - A person close to Tony Blair says the former prime minister is godfather to one of Rupert Murdoch's children.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity after British media reported the October issue of Vogue says Blair is godfather to Grace Murdoch. The child was baptised at the Jordan River in Jordan last year with her younger sister Chloe.
Vogue declined to release a copy of its story but referred a reporter to The Daily Telegraph's account.
Blair hadn't been shown or mentioned in extensive coverage of the baptism in Hello! magazine at the time.
Vogue interviewed Wendi Deng, the wife of the News Corp. chairman and chief executive. The report of Blair's involvement in the baptism was not attributed to her.
