Jamieson said members of the eThekwini Fire Department are trying to gain access to the entrapped passenger.
“At this stage the passenger of the truck, a male believed to be in his thirties, is severely entrapped in the wreckage,” he said.
He said the status of the patient is unconfirmed.
“A further two patients from the other vehicles as well as the driver sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and are currently being treated on scene by advanced life support paramedics before they will be transported through to nearby hospitals for the further care that they require,” said Jamieson.
He advised all motorists to avoid this area at all costs saying the scene has been active from 1pm and would remain active for quite some time.
