Nigeria’s plus size beauty, Ifa Dania (Miss Kwara) has surged to the lead of the Miss Universe Nigeria beauty pageant, just hours before the voting lines closed.
Miss Kwara took the lead from former Miss SA hopeful, Chidimma Adetshina (Miss Taraba) who was initially leading the competition’s public votes.
Holding it down for the Kwara state, Dania is now on 51,538 votes, followed by Adetshina, representing Miss Taraba, with 48,105 and coming in on the third spot is Miss Edo with 18,068 votes. This gives them an automatic entry into the top 10.
Dania has had a remarkable journey and shattered all stereotypes as a plus size contestant in the beauty pageant.
She has also received positive support from South Africans who started rooting for her after she experienced a couple of negative comments from some Miss Universe Nigeria followers.
Miss Kwara did not let the hate get to her as she soared through, continued to unapologetically be herself and stood for all that she believed in.
Her achievement so far highlights an important mark in promoting inclusivity, proving that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.
It’s safe to say she’s passed Adetshina’s moonwalking and sprinted to the possibility of ‘’bagging’’ the crown while challenging all the beauty norms.
The public voting for the contest is officially closed and the new Miss Universe Nigeria will be crowned on Saturday night during the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 event.
The final winner will be selected by a panel of judges. They are expected to represent Nigeria at Miss Universe in Mexico, later this year.
