Renowned actress Thandy Matlaila is gearing up for the upcoming Cape Town Marathon to raise funds for the youth division of the Run Alex Club in Alexandra.

Matlaila, famously known for her roles in Tshisa, The Queen, and Rhythm City took to Instagram to announce that she will be taking part in the marathon.

She expressed her passion for youth development and her decision to support the youth division of Run Alex Club.

“Paired with my passion for youth development, I’ve decided to raise funds for @runalexac youth division which caters for children who want to pursue athletics,” she said.

Run Alex Club, initially established as a running training group, has evolved into a formal running club with a broader mission to initiate positive changes within the Alexandra township community.

The club actively engages in health campaigns, social development, and youth empowerment.

The Cape Town marathon, scheduled to take place on October 19 to 20, will serve as a platform for Matlaila to contribute to the community that has shown her continuous support throughout her career.

“My decision to run @capetownmarathon this year was purely based on wanting to give back to the community that has loved me endlessly,” she the actress.

Matlaila further highlighted the importance of her marathon run, emphasising that every kilometre covered will directly impact the lives of the children in the community.

Matlaila said her inspiration to support Run Alex Club was influenced by The Thandokazi Foundation, which was established in 2022 with the primary goal of empowering and developing youth through sports participation, development, and self-awareness.
