South African musician Oskido is launching his inaugural lifestyle festival to celebrate the pioneers of South African music.

The iconic producer announced the “Big Day Out”, which is expected to take place on November 30.

“The lifestyle festival is a spectacular celebration of South Africa’s vibrant music scene over the past three decades, rekindling the golden era of kwaito by showcasing performances by a stellar line-up of legendary artists and tracking the journey of South African House music from then to now,” said the multi-award-winning producer.

Although the event takes place in November, Oskido said it’s a celebration of the South African heritage and cultures, which deserve recognition throughout the year.

“’Big Day Out’ is not just about the music, it’s about celebrating our rich culture, our colourful history, and the joy that comes with it - music and food.

“Together with my team, we are excited to bring together some of the greatest talents in the country for a day of pure nostalgia and vibrant energy,” Oskido said.

The event featuring a blend of music, fashion and food will welcome at least 5000 guests in the heart of Linksfield against the backdrop of Johannesburg’s lively atmosphere.

Artists who will be performing are yet to be announced but festival-goers can expect to see their favourite kwaito stars as well as Amapiano artists who are currently promoting the South African music scene on the international stage.
