Showmax is set to premiere its new original series, “Soft Life”, on November 18, with new episodes on Mondays. The recently released first-look teaser promises a captivating drama.
“Soft Life” follows ‘Owami Gqoji’, played by Zizipho Buti. When her mother’s medical bills keep rising, Owami is pushed into the hidden world of high-society companionship.
The gripping narrative follows her struggle to balance this double life while keeping her dangerous secret from unravelling her world.
Zizipho Buti, renowned for her roles in Nkululeko on “Generations: The Legacy,” takes on the lead role.
Reflecting on her character, she notes, “Owami has made me realise that many young people find themselves in such compromising situations. I hope the story will encourage open conversations about this.”
The series features a stellar cast, including Mampho Brescia as Zam, the strict yet sophisticated owner of ‘NubiaBlaq,’ and Katlego Lebogang, who plays Zinhle, Owami's mentor.
SAFTA winner Nambitha Mpumlwana stars as ‘Judge Iris Makhaza’, the overprotective mother of Owami’s boyfriend.
Created by Vusi Zion and produced by Urban Brew Studios, “Soft Life” promises to be more than just entertainment. "It’s a forward-thinking show that tackles everyday issues in society, holding up a mirror to the public," says show director Nozipho Nkelemba.
Director Nthabiseng Mokoena adds, "The cast truly immersed themselves in their roles; it was incredible to witness their capabilities. More than anything, viewers should look forward to the new faces who will bring joy, laughter, and sometimes heartache to our screens."
