“Ama Grootman”, a new riveting reality show that dives deep into the lives of Port Shepstone’s most-talked-about men, is coming to the small screen next month.

The Mzansi Magic series centres on six friends - Andile Khumalo, Bheki Hlophe, Busani Ndwalane, Bonga Madlala, Mpho Mbili and Jackey Ngcobo - as they plunge themselves in KwaZulu-Natal’s vibrant culture and navigate the challenges of success and personal growth.

“These are men who have tasted the sweet fruits of newfound wealth, basking in a lifestyle of luxury, financially rewarding business ventures and dynamic romantic escapades,” a statement read.

Known as '’Omalume be soft life'’ these wealthy friends have experienced a dramatic transformation thanks to their financial success.

“But behind their polished exteriors lie a tangle of personal struggles and untold stories.”

Meanwhile, Mbalenhle Ntuli, the channel’s head of reality middle and mass, added that the programme also “untaps a new universe on TV, focusing on the new money phenomenon, fast life, partying, dating and maintaining their relationships that keep them grounded.”

“This goes beyond the ‘fast life’ as these six friends manage their wealth, confront their issues and tackle unresolved conflicts,” she said.

“Ama Grootman” joins several popular reality shows on the channel.

The most notable offerings include the first season of “Married At First Sight: Mzansi” where a group of singles agree to marry partners chosen for them by a team of relationship experts.

They meet for the first time on their wedding day as they look forward to a perfect match,.

Meanwhile, the hit series “Date My Family” sees singletons embarking on a quest for love by going on three dinner dates with the families and friends of potential partners at their homes.

They then choose who they will date based on which family impresses them the most. The three potential partners are kept out of sight and they watch all the action unfold on screen in another room.

Then there is “I’m With Your Ex” a reality show hosted by comedian Eugene Khoza, which seeks to assist those who found love with their friends or family members' former lovers.

∎ “Ama Grootman” premières on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), on October 24, at 8pm.
