“Nobody Wants This” is a new romcom series on Netflix that you’ll want to binge-watch thanks to the charming duo of Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.

They play Joanne, a podcasting queen with a knack for TMI, and Noah, a sensitive rabbi trying to navigate his way through love.

Joanne insists her podcast is about empowerment but everyone else thinks it’s mostly about sex and bad dates. This series shows how two people from totally different backgrounds, families and religions can find common ground and make it work.

From the get-go, Joanne and Noah’s chemistry is mesmerising. You can feel the sparks flying from their very first encounter at a party. It’s that kind of instant connection that makes you want to root for them.

Noah is witty, self-effacing, and generally a real hunk. Who doesn’t love a good meet-cute? Their playful banter and undeniable attraction draw you in, making it feel real and relatable. After all, that’s what makes a rom-com good, right?

Bell is no stranger to the romcom scene. Known for her roles in films like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Good Place”, she brings her signature charm and wit to Joanne, a character hilariously open about her life.

On the flip side, Brody, famous for his role in “The O.C.”, plays a dedicated rabbi navigating the ups and downs of his first major relationship post-breakup with aplomb.

The contrast between the characters is one of the strengths of the show, showcasing how two people can genuinely connect despite their differences.

The series dives into the often tricky dynamics of family and societal expectations. Joanne’s free-spirited ways and risqué podcast stories clash with Noah’s more traditional upbringing.

Their differences raise eyebrows from their loved ones, who can’t fathom how these two could possibly click.

But that’s exactly the point. This series highlights how easy it is for people to judge others without really getting to know them first. It reminds us that beneath our differences, we’re all just humans looking for love and connection.

As they try to fit into each other’s lives, things get hilariously complicated.

Joanne’s parents (played by Michael Hitchcock and Stephanie Faracy) are too relaxed for her taste, while Noah’s strict Jewish mother (Tovah Feldshuh) has a few expectations of her own.

Watching them navigate these family dynamics is both funny and heartwarming. The supporting cast adds to the fun, especially Justine Lupe as Joanne’s sister, whose witty remarks steal every scene she’s in.

Humour is a highlight throughout the series, with every quirky moment from their awkward first date to casual chats about sex, keeping streamers entertained.

It’s refreshing to see a romcom that doesn’t shy away from real conversations, whether it’s about relationships or those awkward family dinners we all dread.

At its core, “Nobody Wants This” is a feel-good series that reminds us of the beauty of love in all its forms.
