Fans of “One Tree Hill” are in for a treat as Netflix is reportedly working on a sequel of the hit 2000s teen series.

According to “Variety”, the reboot of the drama series, which aired for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012, is set to be executive produced by the show’s stars Sophia Bush, Daneel Ackles and Hilarie Burton.

Ackles will executive produce under her Chaos Machine banner along with her husband, Jensen Ackles, who known for his roles on “Supernatural”, “The Boys” and “Tracker”.

Becky Hartman-Edwards, who worked on “Firefly Lane” and “Parenthood”, will also executive produce and be part of the writing team for the sequel.

Warner Bros Television, the studio behind the original series, are also set to produce the sequel.

The publication added that Bush, who played Brooke Davis, and Burton, who featured as Peyton Sawyer, will reprise their roles. Ackles, who was cast as Rachel Gatina, is also allegedly in talks to return for the new show.

It is not yet known if the other “One Tree Hill” stars such as Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson and Lee Norris, will be in the sequel.

“Variety” also added that Mark Schwahn, the original creator of “One Tree Hill”, has no involvement in the reboot. This comes as he faces allegations of assault and harassment made by Burton and others in 2017.

This was discussed at length on Bush, Burton and Lenz’s podcast, “Drama Queens”.

“One Tree Hill”, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, remains a worldwide hit, despite the last episode airing over a decade ago.

The series was set in the fictional town of Tree Hill in North Carolina. It originally focused on the rivalry between half-brothers Lucas (Murray) and Nathan (Lafferty).

But as their lives began to intertwine and their love of basketball united them, the show grew into a story of friendships, relationships and family drama.
