One of South Africa’s hip hop heavyweights, Maglera Doe Boy, has secured a spot with his feature on the soundtrack for the fourth season of the popular American crime drama television series, “Godfather of Harlem”.
Known for hits such as “Envy”, the Free State-born rapper and songwriter, real name Tokelo Moyakhe, is the only South African artist featured on the soundtrack, adding a distinct Mzansi flavour.
"Godfather of Harlem" is a gritty crime drama series that explores the tumultuous world of 1960s Harlem. The show is based on the true story of Bumpy Johnson, a notorious gangster who rose to power during that era.
With its rich characters, complex storylines, and historical context, "Godfather of Harlem" has captivated audiences worldwide. The show features an ensemble cast, including Forest Whitaker, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ilfenesh Hadera and Giancarlo Esposito, among others.
The "Godfather of Harlem" soundtrack is curated by American rapper and record producer Swizz Beatz, who has been the executive music producer for all four seasons of the entire franchise.
The soundtracks of the previous seasons have featured iconic legends such as DMX, Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg. The latest soundtrack continues to feature a diverse range of artists, now with Maglera Doe Boy being the standout South African representative.

The official soundtrack consists of 10 tracks.
Doe Boy features on track 8, which is titled “Afro Harlem”. The lead single from the upcoming soundtrack “Pain” has already been released. It is performed by Grammy nominee Tobe Nwigwe and Houston star Sauce Walka.
