Talented new kid on the block Lusanda Ngcobo is making waves in the music scene with her heavenly voice. The musician has recently released her latest debut single, “When You’re Around,” a song in which she worked with Noxz.
Lusanda Ngcobo is certainly one to watch, having already worked with the likes of Uncle Waffles and Morda on other projects.
Hailing from Durban and raised in Johannesburg, Ngcobo is a singer who has been influenced by music from a young age. She grew up intrigued by the arts, dancing and training in classical ballet from the age of five, she was also part of various choirs during her school years.
Her road to stardom began with people taking note of the music covers she posts on TikTok, covers like local rapper Blxckie’s “Hold” and US singer-songwriter Mereba’s “Stay True”, were some of the covers that garnered her an audience with both artists giving her a nod for her beautiful cover version of their songs.

Her debut single was very much anticipated and met with positive remarks.
“When You’re Around” is a blend of wear your heart on your sleeve R&B and soul jazz, she features London based producer noxz on production.
“I first heard the beat of the song on a TikTok video posted by Nigerian-born, London based producer noxz, I decided to write on it and post it,” Ngcobo told IOL Entertainment this week.
When she posted the snippet people were excited which led to her working with the producer to turn it into a full song that is now being enjoyed by her fans.
She adds that the song is about being infatuated with someone that you start to lose sense of self in an attempt to keep their attention on you.
The songstress hopes that listeners will not only learn more about her, but also themselves.
She also hopes that through sharing her stories and songs, others can discover joy, healing, and a sense of calmness.
Her ability to blend her musical influences and knowledge in multiple art forms such as music, dance, and performance is what sets her apart from the rest.
Ngcobo has worked with powerhouses such as Uncle Waffles on Echoes and Producer, Mörda on his CR4ZY EP. She found the experience incredibly rewarding as she has grown a lot in her songwriting and music making.
“I have learned sincerity and authenticity only arrives when you make what feels good to you, I’m super grateful to have met and put out incredible songs with them,” she said.
