In 2014, award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest dropped his debut album “Tsholofelo” which propelled his career and turned him into a household name.

The album “Tsholofelo” had hits such as “Phumakim”, “Doc Shebeleza” and “Tsibip”. It reached radio success with high rotation and making impressive rankings on the chart.

Cassper Nyovest, in celebration of the album turning 10, penned a reflective post on Instagram, celebrating his journey. The rapper began by thanking God for his talent, protection and grace, even when he was in the wilderness.

“We dropped this album independently with no experience, wisdom or money. Little did we know that we were making history and that we would change the ground of South African music and Africa as a whole forever.

“The album went on to win many awards and is the best selling Hip Hop Album of all time. It started debates and is a case study in many rooms. It’s because of this album that today kids know they can do it all in their bedroom and nobody is running to labels to be signed and enslaved.”

Cassper Nyovest reflected on how the album set the foundation for him to be the first African artist to sell out The Dome which was the most prestigious venue in Africa. “Fill up the Dome Concert” was successful and placed the rapper on the map, as one of Africa’s best who was fearless in making his dreams come true.

“Everything flows from this album, including my business endeavours like @billiato1 and @rootoffame. I would like to thank all the producers, artists and writers who worked on the album.”

In his post, the rapper revealed that he would be celebrating the milestone with plans in the pipeline.
