There is no slowing down for the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards nominee, Mzansi rapper Blxckie, as he just announced his first US tour as a headliner and dropped a brand new single titled “South“.

The Durban-born rapper will take part in the third season of the Sprite Limelight campaign by introducing his latest offering, “South”, a track produced by the Grammy-nominated duo Take A Daytrip.

The concept behind the original song was developed by Take A Daytrip, who Sprite engaged as the music directors for season three of the campaign.

For this season, Blxckie, real name Sihle Sithole, joins a varied roster of international performers, including Young Miko from Puerto Rico, Fireboy DML from Nigeria, XAM̃ from Brazil, Lay Zhang from China, Doechii from the US, and singer-songwriter Mahalia from Great Britain.

The artists tell their stories of how they manage the daily stress and strain of life, as each artist is given complete creative authority over how they wished to tweak the hook to fit their artistic vision.

Sithole tells his story through “South,” demonstrating his ability to speak clearly about how he overcomes hardship while distilling complicated situations into catchy hooks with his conversational flow.

“Ran into a couple problems, had to cut a few, had to make space. Even though it was a mission, had to go outside, had to show face,” he rhymes on the track.

“South” follows Sithole’s Def Jam debut EP, “see u soon,” which he released on July 26, and which received a “Best International Flow” nomination at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards.

This is not the only announcement, as Sithole will also be embarking on another US tour after touring in April 2024 with American rappers Bas, Reuben Vincent, and Hoosh in over 20 venues.

The “see u soon” tour will be his first-ever headlining US tour. It will be an intimate three-day journey that officially begins on November 24 in Los Angeles, with stops in Brooklyn on November 26 and Toronto on November 27.
