Coming from a family of musicians, Gemma's passion for music was encouraged and supported every step of the way.

Her mother's influence, in particular, has been instrumental in shaping her musical journey. This broad musical upbringing has had a lasting impact on Gemma's style, which draws inspiration from old-school legends like Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and Tamia, as well as new-school icons like Rihanna, Kehlani, and Victoria Monet.

Her sound is infused with the vibrant rhythms of Afrobeats and Afro-pop, adding a unique layer of depth and complexity to her soulful R&B foundation.

When it comes to her creative process, Gemma emphasizes the importance of being vulnerable and authentic. She believes that artists must be willing to experience life and be relatable to their audience.

Her approach to songwriting involves sitting in the studio with her producer, working together to craft beats that speak to her soul. This collaborative process allows Gemma to tap into her emotions and create music that is both deeply personal and relatable.
