The online saga between musician Samthing Soweto and music producer DJ Maphorisa is almost at its end, and according to netizens, Samthing Soweto has won.

The two musicians have been in an ongoing feud, fired up by the release of the song “Amalanga Awafani”, which started because Samthing Soweto was not credited due to a dispute over master rights.

Netizens hailed Samthing Soweto victorious after DJ Maphorisa posted a video admitting that Samthing Soweto had paid for his masters.

Samthing Soweto then reposted the video on X, and wrote: “Ladies and Gentlemen here it is – @djmaphorisa confirms that I paid to own my work/masters. Which was the agreement we had versus what he said in his initial video where he stated that he gave me my masters.

“There’s nothing wrong in me wanting to own my work.”

In the video clip, DJ Maphorisa said that he had asked Samthing Soweto to send him an invoice years ago, so that he could settle the amount owing and also own the masters to the “Isphithiphithi” album.

“Samthing Soweto, please don’t make us kids. I asked you on the phone two years ago, three years ago, I said: send me an invoice; let’s also pay you, the way you paid us.

“Why do you want to own all the masters, does it make sense? … You can’t own all the masters, what the f*** is going on? We can give you your money back … Don’t act clever. I’m tired of this going back and forth.”

However, the DJ originally said on X that Samthing Soweto had never paid for the masters. After seeing the evidence, netizens decided that DJ Maphorisa could not be trusted. The deemed Samthing Soweto the winner of the online argument.

@YollyBlu commented: “He lied. We stand with you!️.”

@B_Yandaa said: “Break your silence bhuti; it’s high time. We often see artists suffer in silence, go through depression and die with nothing. Fight for what you believe is within your right. It’s your work.”
