What I’m reading

Ben Trovato is a Sunday Times columnist and the author of nine books. He says you wouldn’t think so if you had to see his living conditions.

I was raised in a cardboard box on the N2, on a diet of paperbacks and watered-down beer, both of which have been a passion of mine ever since. I have a pile of books next to my bed, so high that I expect one night the cat will knock them over and I will be crushed in my sleep.

I’ve just finished DBC Pierre’s Lights Out in Wonderland, which is fabulously disturbing on several levels.

Before that, I spent about a year trying to finish Jonathan Franzen’s tome, Freedom. The only bit that really moved me came three pages before the end.

I occasionally dip into the Dictionary of Bizarre Sexual Practices, but it’s not much fun because Brenda won’t let me practise anything on her.

Being a well-rounded narcissist, I also enjoy re-reading all of my own books.

Right now, I am reading Heat. I am worried about Brad’s happiness because Angelina wants to have more children and is clearly barking mad. Also, Peaches Geldof is giving me sleepless nights.

As for that Justin Bieber, all I want to do is bite his stupid little face off. I’ve been toying with the idea of reading The Bible. Apparently it’s a ripping good yarn.
