Duchess Catherine is “desperate to give something back” by getting involved in charity work.

The royal - who married Prince William in April - is currently taking time to research a number of organisations to decide which she would like to give her patronage to but friends admit she is being careful to choose charities which suit her new royal title.

A source said: “She knows she can't work nine to five, but I think she feels that working with a charity like Help for Heroes or a cause close to her heart, would fit in well with her new lifestyle. I think she's desperate to give something back.”

William is fully supportive of Catherine's decision and even suggested the pair kick off his wife's charity work with a visit to The Royal Marsden children's cancer centre, which took place on Thursday.

The source added to LOOK magazine: “The thing is Catherine is actually very similar to William's mother Diana and I think that's one of the reasons why he fell in love with her in the first place. He was thrilled that Catherine might want to make a difference to the world like his mum did. I imagine that's why he suggested they kick off her work with a visit to The Royal Marsden children's cancer ward - it's where Diana made her first solo trip as a royal in 1982.” - BANG Showbiz
