Beijing — The China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum held in Beijing, China's capital on Wednesday, announced a plethora of cooperation projects that will shake up the media industries of both China and the African continent.
Speaking to the Daily News on the sidelines of the event, Ayanda Hollow, President of BRICS TV Africa, said it was about time Africa and China collaborated on mainstream media to present their stories to the world, told by native voices, to benefit future generations.
"Today's theme is about a shared future, meaning everything we do today is not for myself, not for my story, but for our story. Covid-19 has shown us no country can stand alone without assistance. This is the future we need to create today, living in a diverse world," he said.
Hollow added that BRICS TV Africa had a crucial role to play, elevating and spreading the BRICS message, capturing the cooperative essence from a global media perspective.
He encouraged other South African media platforms to play a more critical international role, saying, "We're not an island, we're part of the world, and our media approach to international issues should reflect this."
According to Xinhua News, authorities and institutions from Africa and China signed six radio and TV agreements, announced 20 cooperation projects, and held an exhibition showcasing cooperation achievements.
