Durban — A tow truck boss was left with gunshot wounds after he was shot at multiple times in Phoenix, north of Durban, on Friday evening.

KZN VIP Protection Services spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said the incident happened just after 6pm.

Naidoo said KZN VIP Medical Ambulance responded to the scene and rushed the injured man to the hospital.

Reporting on Friday, Naidoo said his current condition could not be confirmed at that stage.

Speaking to the Daily News on Sunday, Naidoo said the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm and a bullet grazed his face.

“He is stable and recovering,” Naidoo said about the victim’s condition.

Naidoo added that in the past, they had responded to a few tow truck-related shootings.

Commenting on KZN VIP’s Facebook post about the incident, it was revealed that the incident happened in Eastbury at Tashmeera Gardens.

The victim was only identified as Trevor.

Retha Naidoo said they heard five gunshots.

Blaine Frank said the victim was stable in the hospital.

Bongani Ngwenya said: “The tow truck and taxi industry are the same WhatsApp group.”

Police had not commented by the time of publication.
