While armed response officers were on patrol, a call came in for cable theft in progress at a sub-station.

“Our response officers responded and disrupted the thieves while they were trying to cut power cables. The suspects were chased but lost in the nearby canal,” the service said.

One of the cables in the sub-station appeared to have been cut halfway through.

It added that the suspects left behind a knife, screwdriver, cloths and a shopping bag.
