Durban — A hitman linked to a string of murder cases was arrested on a bus travelling to the Western Cape.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said yesterday at 10.45am, police acted on information regarding a suspect who was wanted for a string of cases, including murder, attempted murder, carjacking, robbery and kidnapping.
Ngcobo said that the crimes were committed in Inanda, KwaMashu, Mayville and other areas.
She said a roadblock was put in place at the Mariannhill Toll Plaza, along with other law enforcement agencies.
“The suspect was travelling on a bus that was heading to the Western Cape. The bus was intercepted and the 31-year-old man was arrested. He was found in possession of a rifle with 90 rounds of ammunition that were concealed in his luggage bag,” Ngcobo said.
She said the man would appear in court soon.
